android sends question marks

If your phone sends only question marks over SMS (text messages) when trying to type in a foreign language (Arabic, hebrew, Russian etc) then your phone is sending text with the wrong encoding.

To fix this, enter the sms app that comes with android, iPhone and right click to choose settings. There, under text message settings (SMS), choose an alternative called input language and set it to “automatic”.

Now any messages you send should show up correctly on the receivers’ devices.
